The radio station aimed to solidify its identity as the premier local music station while engaging listeners through immersive content. We wanted to expand the annual "Battle of the Bands" talent contest for longtime HI93 FM partners, Hawaii's Finest and Southwest Airlines, both seeking to make a meaningful impact by supporting the local community. Additionally, I sought to underscore Pacific Media Group’s statewide presence and influence. This campaign was strategically designed to enhance engagement across our social media platforms, website, and on-air programming, fostering a deeper connection with our audience and celebrating the local music scene.
In its second year, the campaign aimed to increase audience interaction by allowing entries across the state, marketing the contest through sister stations on neighbor islands and a paid digital campaign. We incorporated a live performance contest following an online voting round and semi-finalist from neighbor islands were flown in by Southwest Airlines. I organized the collection and editing of content from each event - interviewing contestants and featuring them prominently on the radio station website and social media profiles, YouTube included. The winner was announced on all participating radio stations simultaneously with voices from all on-air personalities present for the broadcast.
The radio station gained more exposure through our social profiles with a huge bump in engagement because contestants invited friends, family and coworkers to vote them into the semi-finals, attend the events, and view their feature stories. Southwest Airlines and Hawaii's Finest received priceless exposure in all pre-event marketing collateral, on site decor and in all content elements captured and shared online. Contestants were inspired to continue pursuing their dreams of becoming a professional performing artist.
