The Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association is led by Board members from across the nation and our job was to produce a destination conference that would invigorate the member enthusiasm and participation. We were tasked with organizing a 4-day conference where their industry peers could fulfill their Minimum Continuing Legal Education requirements. These events were always hosted at a destination resort featuring credit-qualified panels and networking opportunities.
Producer / ABS Collective
We managed all logistics through customs and onsite coordinators, organizing the program and production schedules, attendee registration and a group of volunteers. We encouraged networking by producing daily special events with custom catering, entertainment and multimedia displays. I managed a variety of vendors including independent designers and the distribution of onsite collateral (name badges, directional signs, PPT presentations, printed program guides, etc). I worked with sponsors to provide meaningful interactions with attendees and produced a high-styled gala featuring honoree video vignettes and award presentations.
Over 3 years producing this event, we elevated the presentation quality and perceived value of the Conference resulting in increased member participation and sponsorships. Our budget management allowed the organization to return to solvency. Attendees began signing up for the next annual conference before the event's conclusion. The profiles of honorees and speakers increased.
